명(明)·청(淸)시기 안휘(安徽) 동성(桐城)지역은 역대로 적지 않은 여성작가와 작품을 배출한 중국 여성문학사의 주요 활동 지역이다. 실제로 동성지역의 시문선 집인『 용면풍아(龍眠風雅)』에는 남성보다 더 많은 작품을 실으며 동시대 문인들에게도 그 가치를 인정받는 여성작가들이 있다. 이른바 방씨삼절(方氏三節)이라 불리 는 방맹식(方孟式), 방유의(方維議), 방유칙(方維則)이 그 주인공인데 본 논문에서는 이들의 삶과 시작품의 특징에 대해 간단히 고찰하고자 한다. 그동안은 강소(江蘇), 절강(浙江)을 중심으로 하는 강남지역의 여성작가들을 주로 다루었다면 이번 연구에서는 연구지역을 안휘 동성으로 확장하고 이 지역을 대표하는 방씨 가문의 여성 작가들에 초점을 맞추었다.
The Anhui region of Tongcheng during the Ming and Qing Dynasties stands out as a significant area in the history of Chinese women’s literature, having produced a considerable number of female writers and their works. Indeed, the anthology “Dragon Sleep Elegance” (龍眠風雅) dedicated to poetry from this region includes numerous works by women, with female writers recognized for their contributions by contemporaneous literati. Among these writers, the trio known as the “Three Fāng Sisters” (方氏三節) - Fāng Mèngshì (方孟式), Fāng Wéiyì (方維議), and Fāng Wéizé (方維則) - stand out. This paper aims to briefly examine their lives and the characteristics of their works. While previous studies have primarily focused on women writers from the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions in the southern Yangtze River Delta, this research expands the scope to include the Tongcheng region of Anhui province, with a specific focus on the female writers of the Fāng family, who represent this region’s literary contributions.
