The revival of female consciousness in romantic opera: Discuss from the‘one play and two roles’

[Background] The 19th century saw the emergence of a female-led movement for the liberation of women in continental Europe, while the artistic field of the Romantic period presented many works of the revival of female consciousness. [Objective] This paper will compare the works of this period with operas from the Baroque to the classical period, and explore the changes in the portrayal of female images by composers in the Romantic period. [Methods] Literature research and case analysis were used to integrate relevant theories and analyze relevant opera fragments. [Results]Through the analysis of the musical language of two female verses in the operas of male composers in the Romantic period, and based on the theory of feminist music research, the characteristics of their female musical language are discussed. [Conclusion] This paper discusses in detail the possibility of female consciousness recovery in the opera works of male composers, and looks forward to the further study of feminist music theory.
【背景】十九世纪的欧洲大陆涌现了由女性主导的解放女性运动,与此同时浪漫主义时期的艺术领域呈现出许多女性意识的复苏的作品。【目的】本文将把这一时期的作品与巴洛克至古典主义时期的歌剧作对比,探讨浪漫主义时期作曲家对于女性形象塑造的变更。【方法】利用文献研究法、个案分析法,整合相关理论并分析相关歌剧片段。【结果】通过对浪漫主义时期男性作曲家歌剧中,两位形象迥异的女性唱段进行音乐语言分析,并以女性主义音乐研究理论为论据,探讨其女性音乐语言的特征。【结论】本文详细论述男性作曲家歌剧作品中蕴含的女性意识复苏可能性,并对女性主义音乐领域理论进一步研究做出展望。
