WH-Less WH-Questions and the Syntax of WHY (II)

This study tries to provide some empirical supports to Y.-H. Kim’s (2020) analysis of WH-less WH-questions, a kind of unique phenomenon in which sentences with WH-intonation but without any morphological WH-question marker show properties of WH- question. This phenomenon was first reported by Y.-H. Kim (2020), and Y.-H. Kim (2024) is also an attempt to provide experimental tests for supporting Y.-H. Kim’s (2020) analysis. This study is a sequel to Y.-H. Kim’s (2024) study to elaborate the analysis of the results from the experiments and show the results of the preference tests carried out with the same subjects. The overall tests turn out to verify the validity of Y.-H. Kim’s (2020) analysis.
