5·18 광주항쟁기 윤상원과 시민군의 저항정신 고찰

Examining the Spirit of Resistance of Yoon Sang-won and the Militia during the May 18 Gwangju Uprising : Focusing on Republican Patriotism

본 글의 목적은 5·18 광주민중항쟁기 시민군 내부에서 벌어졌던 치열한 노선경쟁(‘무장해제 협상’ 대 ‘무장 협상’ 그리고 ‘무장해제 투항’ 대 ‘무장 최후항전’)에 초점을 맞춰 무장 협상과 무장 최후항전을 선택한 윤상원과 시민군들의 저항정신을 ‘공화주의적 애국심’으로 설명하려는 데 있다. 즉, 본 글은 광주항쟁과정에서 윤상원이 시민군 노선을 취하게 되는지에 대한 과정 그리고 시민군의 실체에 대해 사례를 분석하고, 그것의 의미를 공화주의적 애국심과 연관시켜 살펴보고자 한다. 윤상원과 함께 싸웠던 동료시민군이 ‘공동의 자유공간’을 지키기 위해 보여줬던 사랑, 헌신, 연대를 공화주의적 애국심으로 분석하였다.

This purpose of this article is to focus on the fierce line competition (‘disarmament negotiations’ vs. ‘armed negotiations’ and ‘disarmament surrender’ vs. ‘armed last stand’) that took place within the militia during the May 18 Gwangju People’s Uprising, focusing on armed negotiations and the purpose is to explain the spirit of resistance of Yoon Sang-won and the citizen soldiers who chose an armed last stand as 'republican patriotism.' in other words, this article analyzes the process of how Yoon Sang-won took the militia line during the Gwangju Uprising and the reality of the militia, and examines its meaning in relation to republican patriotism. the love, dedication, and solidarity shown by fellow citizen soldiers who fought alongside Yoon Sang-won to protect the ‘common free space’ were analyzed as republican patriotism.
