Film and Education: Children’s Films During the Republic of China

Children's film was born in the 19th century in the west. With the rise of May Fourth Movement, the issue of children's education began to receive the attention of people with insight, in 1922, the first short story film about children appeared in China, which marked the beginning of Chinese children's film. The emergence of children's movies in China has triggered a heated discussion in China. Most people praise children's movies and express their views in one after another, however, due to the lack of film source, the lack of supervision, the level of economic development and other practical reasons, this period of children's films are facing controversy and challenges.

儿童电影诞生于19 世纪诞生于西方，随着五四运动的兴起，儿童教育问题开始得到有识之士的关注，1922 年中国出现第一部以儿童为主角的故事短片《顽童》，标志着中国儿童电影故事片开始萌芽。儿童电影在中国的出现引发了国内的热议，大多数人都推崇儿童电影，并纷纷发文表达自己的观点，但由于片源的匮乏、监管的缺失、经济发展水平的差异等现实原因，这一时期的儿童电影面临着争议和挑战。
