학교급별 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 학급당 학생 수 요인 분석

Analysis of Factor in Number of Students per Class Affecting Academic Achievement by School Level

목적 본 연구는 학교급별 학급당 학생 수 요인이 학업성취도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 규명함으로써 학교의 효과성을 높이는 데 목적이 있다. 또한, 학교급별 차이가 어떻게 나타나는지 비교·분석하여 학교급별로 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 방법 이에 따라, EDSS 교육 공공데이터 중에서 초·중·고 학급당 학생 수 및 국가수준 학업성취도 전수평가의 최근 자료를 활용하여 회귀분석을 수행함으로써 학교급별 학급당 학생 수가 학업성취도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 제시하였다. 결과 그 결과, 학급당 학생 수 요인이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향은 학교급별로 유사점과 차이점이 존재하였다. 초등학교의 경우, 학급당 학생 수는 학업성취도 요인들에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 중등학교는 유의한 영향력이 나타났다. 결론 학급당 학생 수 요인이 학업성취도에 미치는 영향력이 학교급별로 다르게 나타났으나, 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 다양하기 때문에 다른 변인들을 통제시킬 필요가 있으며, 학급당 학생 수 요인의 효과를 확인하기 위해 연구대상자의 초기 학업성취도와 소속 학급에서 학습한 이후의 후기 학업성취도의 차이에 학급당 학생 수가 어떤 영향을 끼쳤는지 분석할 필요가 있음을 제언하였다.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to increase the effectiveness of schools by examining how the factor in number of students per class affect academic achievement by school level. Also, by comparing and analyzing the differences by school level, I tried to suggest implications for each school level. Methods Accordingly, regression analysis was performed using the latest data on number of students per elementary, middle and high school class and the total national assessment of academic achievement among EDSS education public data to suggest how the number of students per class affects academic achievement by school level. Results As a result, there were similarities and differences in the effect of the number of students per class factor on academic achievement by school level. In the case of elementary school, the number of students per class did not have a significant effect on the factors of academic achievement. On the other hand, secondary school showed a significant influence. Conclusions The influence of the number of students per class on academic achievement was found to vary by school level. However, since there are various factors that affect academic achievement, it is necessary to control for other variables. Also, in order to confirm the effect of the number of students per class factor, it is suggested that it is necessary to analyze the effect of the number of students per class on the difference between the initial academic achievement of the subjects and their later academic achievement after learning in their class.
