Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of informal and formal support on the job satisfaction of married women with preschool-age children. Methods: To this end, a multiple regression analysis was conducted using the fifth wave data from the KLSWF carried out by the KWDI. Results: The analysis outcomes of this study are as follows. With regard to demographic characteristics, personal income level, household income level, and subjective economic status appear to have an impact on job satisfaction, and income levels also have a positive impact on women who are burdened with child care. Among informal support, sharing household labor with their spouses had an impact on women’s job satisfaction, indicating that practical help and participation in household labor have a significant impact above and beyond emotional support from spouses. Among official support, parental leave, child care expense support and provision of child care facilities were seen as effective, so holidays, service and cash grant policies were more effective than policies relating to working hours. Conclusion: As a result, this study discusses the need to both promote a culture of taking care of children in conjunction with spouses and a formal support policy to help balance work and family.
