A Study on the Subjectivity of Value of Children for Parents of Young Children: Focused on the Development of Q Assessment

Objective: The purpose of this research is to develop a Q assessment tool(Q-Block) to verify the types of the value of children for parents of young children. Methods: This study created a Q assessment tool(Q-Block) based on the characteristics of perception types on the value of children for parents of young children found throughout Q Methodology. Results: This study produced three types of perceptions on the value of children for parents of young children. Type 1 is satisfaction with the existence of children. Type 1 emphasizes that the existence of children itself is enough to be considered happy. Type 2 is dedication and patience. This type is characterized as encountering difficulty and developing patience when raising children. Type 3 is the pursuit of social value. This type has the characteristic of pursuing social value. The Q-Block consisted of a highly discriminative statement from each type. Conclusion: The Q assessment tool(Q-Block) is expected to be highly useful for parents of young children to check their perceptions on the value of children in the field of parent education programs.
