Objective: The purpose of this study is to develop a creative talent competency scale for preschool children. Methods: Components of creative talent competency were identified based on the results of literature review and a survey of 10 teachers. 71 preliminary items were constructed to measure the components. Content validity testing and a first–step preliminary study were implemented based on 71 items. The second-step preliminary study was conducted with 250 preschool children. The collected data was verified and analyzed through exploratory factor analysis and reliability coefficient. Results: Three factors composed of creative thinking, creative characteristics and social related character were extracted and 67 items were finally selected. The results showed that the creative talent competency scale had reliability of internal consistency and internal content validity. Conclusion: This study is expected to examine creative talent competency for preschool children and will serve as basic data to construct components of a creative talent competency scale.
