동물 애제류에서의 슬픔 형상화 방식

The Appearance of Sadness in condolence literature of Animal

본 논문은 동물에 대한 애제류 작품을 검토하여, 동물의 죽음에 대한 인간의 슬픔이 어떠한 방식으로 드러났는지 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 아울러 亡者 애제류와의 비교를 겸하고자 한다. 동물은 인간이 인간 이외에 가장 쉽게 애정을 주거나 교감을 나눌 수 있는 생물이라는 점에서 동물의 죽음은 인간의 죽음에 버금가는 슬픔을 안길 수 있다. 근래에 반려동물을 가족처럼 여기고 또 亡者의 경우처럼 葬禮를 치러주는 문화가 점점 성행하고 있는 것을 보면, 과거에도 동물의 죽음을 겪고서 슬픈 감정을 드러내고 추모의 마음을 보인 애제류 작품이 필시 남아 있을 것이다. 이에 『韓國文集叢刊』과 『韓國歷代文集叢書』를 대상으로 하여 16개의 동물 애제류 작품을 찾았고, 각 작품에 드러난 주된 정서를 ‘분노와 복수심의 직접적 표출’, ‘과거 회상 및 그리움의 담담한 서술’, ‘죽은 동물을 매개로 한 반성과 경계로의 승화’라는 세 가지 유형으로 구분할 수 있었다. 망자 애제류와의 비교를 해보면 동물 애제류의 경우 격한 감정을 드러내거나 애절한 슬픔을 표현하는 데 있어서 정도의 차이를 볼 수 있었고, 애제류임에도 불구하고 애도가 주목적이 아닌 특징을 보이기도 하였다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the condolence literature of Animal and examine how human sadness over the death of animals was revealed. In addition, I would like to compare with condolence literature of human. Since animals are the most easily affectionate or sympathetic creatures other than humans, the death of animals can bring sadness comparable to that of humans. In recent years, the culture of treating pets as family members and holding a funeral is becoming more and more prevalent, and there will surely be literature that have revealed their sad feelings and shown their condolences after experiencing the death of animals in the past. 16 kinds condolence literature of Animal were found in the『韓國文集叢刊』 and the 『韓國歷代文集叢書』, and the main emotions revealed in each literature could be divided into three types: “direct expression of anger and vengeance”, “calm description of past recollections and longing,” and “reflection through dead animals and sublimation to boundaries.” In comparison with the condolence literature of human, there was a difference in the degree of expressing intense emotions or mournful sadness in the case of condolence literature of Animal, and even though they were condolence literature, condolence may not be the main purpose.
