The Analysis of Clinical Application Status of Manual Therapy Including Chuna in Fracture

Objectives This study aimed to analyze the clinical application of manual therapy in- cluding Chuna in fracture. Methods We searched related studies using worldwide databases and analyzed the identified studies by classifying fracture regions and type of manual therapy including Chuna techniques. Results Total of 73 studies included according to previously established criteria. Among 73 studies, 53 studies treated upper limb, 9 studies treated lower limb, and 7 studies treated spine (4 studies did not report the region). 60 studies conducted bone setting manual therapy. Other 13 studies consists of Chuna manual therapy (5 studies), massage therapy (3 studies), and manual therapy combined other KM treat- ments (5 studies). 13 studies (non-bone setting manual therapy) primarily measured range of motion and the scale of pain intensity and function. Most outcome measures improved statistically. 13 studies (non-bone setting manual therapy) did not report adverse events. Conclusions In this study, we could identify the therapeutic possibility of Chuna and manual therapy for the fracture patients, assuming the precise judgement and correct procedure by skilled practitioner.
