Objective: The purpose of this study investigates the effects of scapular stabilization Pilates on shoulder pain and muscle function in women. It aims to clearly understand the impact of Pilates on shoulder health and assess its efficacy as a non-surgical treatment. Method: This study was conducted at a Pilates studio in Seoul, involving 22 individuals experiencing shoulder pain. The experimental group of 11 participants engages in scapular stabilization Pilates, while the control group of 11 performed wall push-ups. Both interventions lasted for 8 weeks, with sessions twice a week, each lasting 50 minutes. Outcome measures included a range of motion, pain(VAS : Visual Analogue Scale), shoulder function disability(SPADI : Shoulder Pain And Disability Index), shoulder flexibility(hand clasping), and shoulder stability(push-ups), comparing the changes in shoulder function between groups. Results: This study of comparing the pre and post intervention results, significant differences were observed between the experimental and control groups post intervention. The experimental group showed a significant reduction in shoulder pain and function disability index. Conclusion: These findings suggest that scapular stabilization Pilates is effective of women with shoulder pain. It is also expected to provide useful information for clinical practice and rehabilitation strategies.
