The Impacts of the Green-Bio Industry Using an Input-Output Model

This study performed a comparative analysis within the green-bio sector by reclassifying it and computing various inducement coefficients. In 2019, production inducement coefficients were determined as 2.696 for bio-based agricultural production, 2.901 for bio food, and 2.206 for bio equipment and services. The influence coefficients, which reflect the backward chain effects, increased in agricultural and food sectors, but decreased in equipment and services, while the sensitivity coefficients for the forward chain decreased across all sectors. Bio-based agriculture boosts demand for intermediate goods but low overall demand for green bio products calls for policies like preferential public purchasing to stimulate demand. Employment inducement coefficients were also analyzed, with figures of 10.3, 17.8, and 13.2 for agricultural production, bio food, and equipment/services, respectively. While the direct employment effect of each green bio sector is relatively low, it significantly boosts employment in other industries. Despite lacking precise industry size data, this research lays foundational analysis for exploring the sector's economic impact, using an industry relationship table for classification.
