A spayed poodle, female, 7-year-old dog presented with sudden left front limb lameness. Physical examination of the forelimb was unable to be performed and the hindlimb was grade 2 bilaterally. During walking at peak vertical force (PVF), a difference of 3.66% was noted in the forelimb but 40% in the hindlimb at trotting. During walking at vertical impulse, a difference of 0.7 N·s was identified in the forelimbs but 0.27 N·s in the hindlimb at trotting. During the trotting, the difference between the front legs was 1.3 Ns and there was no difference between the hind limbs. Symmetry index (SI) was found to be 27.4% in the forelimb and 0.00% in the hindlimb during the walking and trotting. This study analyzes the gait of a dog with unilateral forelimb lameness using kinetic measurements, aiding in clinical trials for animal health.
