Female College Students’ Sexual Intercourse and Knowledge: A Comparison of Two Cohorts in 2008 and 2018

The purpose of this study is to explore the general tendencies in the levels of sexual intercourse and knowledge reported by female college students in 2008 and 2018. And it conducted a comparative analysis of the differences in sexual intercourse and knowledge levels among female college students at these two points in time, given their respective sociocultural contexts. For this study, the two-wave surveys with the same self-report questionnaire were conducted. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, It was shown that female college students in 2018 had more sexual intercourse than their counterparts in 2008. Second, female college students in 2018 showed significantly lower levels of sexual knowledge overall than their counterparts in 2008. Third, Even after controlling for age and sexual intercourse, female college students in 2018 had significantly lower levels of sexual knowledge than those in 2008. Finally, even after controlling for age and level of sexual knowledge, female college students in 2018 were more likely to have sexual intercourse than their counterparts in 2008.
