A Structural Equation Analysis of Parental Behavior and Childern's Self-Perception, Psychological & Behavioral Problems, and School Adjustment: Focusing on multicultural families

This study analyzes the structural relationship between father 's parenting behavior, self–concept of multicultural family children, psychological behavior problem, and school adaptation. This study aims to provide evidence–based data for policy and practice for adaptation of school children from multicultural families. Data were collected from survey and analyzed by frequency, multivariate normality of observed variables, Cronbach's α, and correlation using SPSS 18.0 program. The test of model was done with analysis of correlation matrix in AMOS 21.0 program for path analysis. The results are as follows. First, fathers' parenting behaviors have a direct effect on the children's school adaptation, self-concept, and psychological behavior problems. Second, the child's self-concept has a direct impact on psychological behavior problems and school adjustment. Third, the children's psychological behavior problems directly affect school adaptation. Fourth, father's parenting behavior indirectly influenced school adaptation through child's self-concept and psychological behavior problem. Fifth, the child's self-concept indirectly influenced school adjustment through psychological behavior problems. Based on these results, policy and practical implications were discussed.
