This study is focused on a qualitative research on the experience of participating in group counseling for self-support and the process of psychosocial change. Being homeless causes the homeless to have complicated psychosocial problems. Thus making it difficult for them to live a normal life. Therefore, this study intend to explore experiences of psychosocial and positive change that strengthen the inherent abilities of the homeless through homeless group counseling for overcoming difficulties and enhancing self-support. For this purpose, in-depth interviews were carried out with ten homeless men from Resume Support center in S city who had suffered from chronic unemployment, and Colaizzi’s method of phenomenological inquiry was adopted to analyze the data. The result revealed the participants’ causes of homelessness, their difficulties of living as homeless people, their experiences of distress, their self-reflective insight, and their desire for self-support. It was concluded that the homeless need not only a home, but also the consistent psychosocial aid of professional counseling therapy before and after self-support in order to help them succeed in being completely self-sufficient.
