MZ세대와 기성세대의 미디어 접촉이 경찰협력의사에 미치는 영향

The impact of Media Contact on Police Cooperation intention in MZ Generation and Other Generation: The Mediating Role of Police Trust

이 연구는 미디어를 통한 긍정적 경찰접촉이 경찰신뢰와 경찰협력의사에 미치는 영향의 세대 차이를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이 연구의 분석을 위해 자체적으로 수집한 ‘경찰조직 및 범죄에 대한 시민 인식조사’ 자료를 활용하였으며, 분석방법은 AMOS 23.0을 통해 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 주요한 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, MZ세대에서 경찰신뢰가 미디어를 통한 긍정적 경찰접촉과 경찰협력의사의 관계를 완전매개하였다. 둘째, 기성세대에서도 경찰신뢰가 미디어를 통한 긍정적 경찰접촉과 경찰협력의사의 관계를 완전매개하였다. 셋째, 두 집단(MZ세대-기성세대)에서 모두 미디어를 통한 긍정적 경찰접촉과 경찰신뢰를 설명하는 경로와 경찰신뢰가 경찰협력의사를 설명하는 경로가 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 하지만 두 집단 간 경로계수의 크기는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 미디어를 통한 긍정적 경찰접촉이 모든 세대의 경찰신뢰와 경찰협력의사에 유의미한 영향을 줄 수 있음을 의미한다. 이러한 분석결과를 토대로 1) 영웅화된 허구적 경찰의 모습을 지양하고 2) 시민들의 협력을 이끌 수 있는 일상적인 경찰의 모습을 부각시키는 전략적 미디어 활용방안을 제시하였다.

This study aims to examine the generational differences in the impact of positive police contact through the media on police trust and cooperation intention. Utilizing data collected from a “Citizen Perception Survey on Police Organizations and Crime” conducted internally, the analysis employed multigroup analysis using AMOS 23.0. Key findings are as follows. First, in the MZ generation, police trust completely mediated the relationship between positive police contact through the media and cooperation intention. Second, in the other generation, police trust also completely mediated the relationship between positive police contact through the media and cooperation intention. Third, in both groups (MZ generation - other generation), the paths explaining police trust through positive police contact via the media and the path where police trust explains cooperation intention were statistically significant. However, there was no significant difference in the magnitude of path coefficients between the two groups. These results imply that positive police contact through the media can have a significant impact on police trust and cooperation intention for all generations. Based on these findings, strategic media utilization approaches are suggested: 1) avoiding the portrayal of idealized and fictionalized police figures and 2) emphasizing the depiction of everyday police figures that can lead citizen cooperation.
