Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze the competitive advantage of DJI, a leading company in the global drone industry, using the Porter's Diamond Model and VRIO model. The study aims to identify key factors that contribute to DJI's success and sustainability in the competitive landscape. Design/methodology/approach - This study employs a qualitative research methodology, utilizing secondary data from academic journals, industry reports, and case studies. It combines Porter's Diamond Model to assess the competitive environment and industry dynamics and the VRIO framework to evaluate DJI's resources and capabilities and. Findings - The analysis reveals that DJI's significant competitive advantages stem from its valuable, rare, inimitable, and well-organized resources. Key strengths include customer-oriented strategy. Additionally, DJI benefits from a strong organizational structure and an effective talent management system. The company's strategic focus on international markets, coupled with a supportive policy environment in China, further enhances its competitive position. Research implications or Originality - This study contributes to the understanding of how high-tech companies can leverage unique resources and capabilities to achieve sustained competitive advantage. It provides insights into the strategic management practices that underpin DJI's dominance in the drone industry and offers a framework for analyzing similar high-growth technology firms.
