This study focuses on investigating the effect of family support and self-differentiation on the college life adjustment of middle-aged married women college students. The participants were 194 married women who had more than one child. The family support measure consisted of the three factors of emotional, evaluative, and instrumental support. Self-differentiation was measured in the five subscales of emotional reactivity, I-position, fusion with others, emotional cutoff, and emotional fusion. Multiple regression results indicated that evaluative family support was a significant predictor of the environmental, academic, and physical adjustment to college life. The emotional cutoff of self-differentiation had significant effects on all dimensions of college life, while I-position influenced emotional, environmental, and physical adjustment. The results were discussed in terms of the implications for practical support and future research.
