A Descriptive Research of the Defense Mechanisms of Nursery Teachers According to Enneagram Personality Types

This study investigates defense mechanisms of the nursery teachers according to enneagram personality types. This research compiled data on 49 female subjects who work for day care centers in the A district. In addition, this data was collected through semi-structured questionnaires, participant observation, in-depth interviews from the nursery teachers. The data in this research are classified in accordance with defense mechanisms according to enneagram personality types, and are done a comparative analysis with existing documents. According to the results, First, the nursery teachers use a variety of defense mechanisms, which suit the individual circumstances. Second, these data show the significant relationship between the enneagram personality traits and the defense mechanisms. Third, the distinct characteristics of the nursery teachers' defense mechanisms are primarily suppression, humor, altruism, anticipate, etc.
