This study investigated parenting experiences informed by cultural differences between their home country and Korea experienced by mothers in multicultural families who settled in South Korean society through marriage. The participants were a multicultural group of mothers with infants and young children from three countries: China, Vietnam, and the Philippines, since many Korean men marry women from these countries. The participants of the study were a group of 20 ( 7 Chinese, 7 Vietnamese, 6 Filipino) mothers residing in Paju and Gimpo, and in-depth interviews and group interviews were analyzed using the content analysis method. According to the results of this study, first, multicultural mothers’ parenting perspectives were different depending on their cultural origin. Second, infancy parenting experiences primarily occur as parenting conflicts in the home: the postpartum period, the weaning period, the differences in gender roles, the child-rearing perspective of the husband, and initiative competition on child rearing with parents-in-law. Finally, early childhood parenting experiences have been reported to go through a conflict due to differences in sub-factors of the social system of education culture. Through these studies we were able to gain in-depth understanding of multicultural family mothers’ parenting experiencing and seize parenting difficulties that result from cultural differences. The study hopes to contribute to multicultural family support policy and program implementation.
