The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants which affect the work-family balance and childbirth decision of working wives. To this end, this study includes 709 married women who are younger than 44 years old and currently working in Gyeonggi province. The analysis results may be summarized as follows: First, the hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed that work hours are negatively related to work-family balance, while job satisfaction and the availability of a parental leave system are positively related to work-family balance. In the final regression model 3, both job satisfaction and family satisfaction are significantly related to work-family balance. Second, working wives who are childless are less likely to have a baby, and working wives who have two or more children are more likely to have a baby than those who have only one child. Working wives with higher levels of job satisfaction are more likely to have a baby. Based on the findings above, this study suggests the need for education for female college students about married women’s interrupted career, facilitating to keep working hours in “good workplace” certified companies, and ways to improve job satisfaction.
