A Qualitative Study for Developing a Web - based Fathering Education Program for the Fathers of Adolescent Children

This study was purposed to explore the needs for web-based fathering education program for the fathers of adolescent children. The data were collected by in-depth interviews with 23 participants. The 23 participants were adolescents and fathers and mothers of adolescent children. They were invited to participate in the study through a purpose sampling method. The collected data were analyzed by a constant comparative analysis. The findings of the first question were categorized into the following four themes: (1) father-child subsystem-related, (2) couple subsystem-related, (3) father himself-related, (4) the whole family system-related. The findings of the second question were categorized into the following two themes: (1) characteristics of the web-based education, (2) devices for maximizing effectiveness of web–based education. This study has a practical significance because it can be the useful grounds for developing fathering education program for the fathers of adolescent children
