A Study on the Conditions and the Developmental of a Family Welfare Policy for families with Handicapped Children in Korea

This study aimed to analyze the family welfare policy in Korea and other countries through documentary evidence too discover the services desired and the problems encountered by families with handicapped children. The paper also proposes a family welfare policy for handicapped children in Korea. As a result, to develop a family welfare policy for handicapped children, cooperation with related national groups is necessary to form a self-governing system. In addition, the family welfare policy offers education and training services for parents and families with handicapped children and an understanding that family life for handicapped children must be improved. Furthermore, families need to initiate and develop various programs using local community resources.
