다문화가족 아동의 문화역량 강화를 위한 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구

A Study on the Development of a Cultural Competence Program for Empowering Children from Multicultural Families

본 연구는 다문화가족 아동의 문화역량 강화를 위한 프로그램 개발을 위해 내용분석법과 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 통해 프로그램 요구를 파악하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 프로그램은 7-12세의 다문화가족 아동이 대상이며, 구성요소는 문화인식, 자아정체성확립, 공동체 인식이다. 프로그램의 목표는 문화적 민감성 향상, 문화인식증가, 다문화인 되기, 문화 연결자되기, 차별과 편견에 대처하기이며, 총 10회기의 프로그램으로 개발되었다. 본 프로그램 개발은 다문화가족 아동의 문화역량 강화에 의의가 있으며, 구체적인 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 본 프로그램은 다문화가족 아동의 이중언어와 이중문화 역량 개발에 초점을 두어 다문화가족 아동이 ‘다문화인’으로서 자아정체감을 형성하며, 글로벌시대에 필요한 다문화적 역량을 갖춘 인재로 양성하는데 기여한다. 둘째, 본 프로그램은 다문화가족 아동의 부적응을 예방하는데 초점을 두었으므로, 궁극적으로 프로그램 참여자에게 향후 발생할 수 있는 문제에 대처함으로써 사회적 비용 감소효과도 기대할 수 있다. 셋째, 본 프로그램은 개별아동의 특성과 욕구에 맞는 맞춤형 서비스를 제공하도록 개발되었다. 따라서 개별서비스 실천과정에 대한 데이터베이스 자료는 향후 다문화가족 아동을 위한 실천방법 및 기법 등을 개발하는데 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

With the purpose of the development of a program strengthening cultural competence the children from multicultural families, the program was developed by using content analysis and also by interviewing focus groups in this study. The program developed in this study was targeted for children aged between 7 and 12 from multicultural families. It was composed of a total of 10 sessions, and was aimed to improve cultural sensitivity, to increase cultural awareness, to guide others to become multicultural and culturale brokers, and to cope with discrimination and prejudice. To these ends, this study was focused on three components: cultural awareness, self-identity, and community awareness. The significance of this study can be summarized as follows: Firstly, children from multicultural families can develop their self-identity as multicultural people, and this study can contribute to fostering children of multicultural families into outstanding individuals. This program has been developed to enhance their bilingual capabilities and bi-cultural skills, which will surely benefit them in the global age. Secondly, by the provision of preventive and active intervention for children from multicultural families through this program, social maladjustment in children from multicultural families can be prevented in the future and consequently the reduction in social costs can be expected. Thirdly, the program aims to evaluate the individual child's characteristics and needs, to set up individual service plan and to provide services, and finally to assess these services. The database for the process of these individual services would be used as a base material in developing practical methods and techniques for children from multicultural families in the future.
