The Effect of Mother's Parenting Beliefs and Expectation on Parenting Intelligence

본 연구는 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 양육신념, 자녀기대감과 부모역할지능 간의 관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육신념, 자녀기대감, 부모역할지능의 일반적 경향은 어떠한가? 둘째, 어머니의 양육신념, 자녀기대감과 부모역할 지능과의 관계는 어떠한가? 셋째, 어머니의 양육신념, 자녀기대감이 부모역할지능에 미치는 상대적 영향력은 어떠한가?본 연구의 대상은 유아기 자녀를 둔 200명의 어머니들이며 이들을 대상으로 실시한 설문지 가운데 127부가 회수되었고 최종분석에는 124부가 사용되었다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육신념, 자녀기대감 하위요인들과 부모역할지능의 하위요인들 간의 상관관계를 살펴본 결과, 어머니의 양육신념 하위요인들과 자녀기대감 하위요인들 간에는 지적성취강조 신념과 인지적 역량기대에서 유의미한 정적상관 관계가 나타났다. 어머니의 양육신념 하위요인들과 어머니의 부모역할 지능 하위요인들 간에 유의한 상관을 보이는 변인은 없었으며 어머니의 자녀기대감 하위요인들과 부모역할지능의 하위요인들 간에는 일부 유의미한 상관관계를 보였다. 둘째, 어머니의 양육신념, 자녀기대감이 부모역할지능에 미치는 상대적 영향력을 살펴본 결과, 도덕성에 대한 기대감이 어머니 부모역할지능의 공감, 격려, 합리적 권위, 통제를 설명하는 유의미한 변인인 것으로 나타났고 생활습관에 대한 기대감은 어머니 부모역할지능의 증진, 수용을 설명하는 유의미한 변인인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사회적 유능성에 대한 기대감은 어머니 부모역할지능의 융통성을 설명하는 변인인 것으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mothers' parenting beliefs and expectations on parenting intelligence. The problems are defined as follows. First, How are mother's parenting beliefs, expectation and parenting intelligence defined? Second, What are the relationships among the mothers's parenting beliefs, expectation and parenting intelligence? third, How do the mother's parenting beliefs and expectations effect parenting intelligence?The subjects of this study were 124 mothers out of an original sample of 200 mothers who have children who are in their early childhood. 127 questionnaires were returned, but only 124 were used in the final analysis. The results are as outlined below. First, the mothers's beliefs emphasized character, maturation and individualism. Second, a generally high expectation level regarding their children was expressed by the mothers's. Third, appropriate parental roles are fulfilled for parenting situations as regards the mothers's parenting intelligence. Fourth, there was a correlation between the mothers's intelligence achievement beliefs and their intelligence capacity expectations. On the other hand, associated variables were found between the sub-factors of the mothers's parenting beliefs and parenting intelligence. Some variables showed meaningful correlations, for example among the sub-factors of the mothers's expectations and parenting intelligence. Finally, the expectation of morality was related to sub-factors of parenting intelligence. These factors were sympathy, encouragement, rational authority and control. The expectation of life habits was related to both enhancement and acceptance. The expectation of social competency was related to flexibility.
