The Relationships between Parenting Beliefs, Expectations and Parenting Intelligence between Fathers and Mothers

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between parenting beliefs, expectations and parenting intelligence between fathers and mothers. The subjects of this study were fathers and mothers who have children under the age of 6. 124 couples were used in the final analysis. The results are as follows. First, regarding differences in parents' parenting beliefs, expectations and parenting intelligence according to the socio-demographic background of the family, fathers have higher expectations for their sons than for their daughters when the academic level of the father is higher, and the mother's parenting beliefs reflect their attitudes toward character, maturation and totalitarianism. Also when the academic level of fathers is lower, the mothers' parenting beliefs emphasize intellectual achievement, a proper environment, and individualism. In addition, younger mothers are associated with fathers' parenting beliefs that emphasize intellectual achievement, a proper environment, and individualism. There was also a consistent correlation between fathers and mothers in terms of their parenting beliefs, expectations, and parenting intelligence in general.
