Mother's perception of the kindergartens and Day-Care canters

The purpose of this study was to investigate mother's perception of the kindergartens and day-care centers. The subjects were 429 mothers with children enrolled in kindergarten or day care center, who lived in Taegu city. The frequency, percentage, mean, x_2 test, ANOVA and Scheffe'-test were used for data-analysis. The major findings showed that (1) mothers with children enrolled in day care center more importantly perceived the distance to home or workplace, flexibility of operation than other factors when they choose a day care center. (2) the level of satisfaction of mothers with children enrolled in private kindergarten was significantly lower than that of mothers with children enrolled in day care center in cost, hours of operation, etc. (3) the level of satisfaction of mothers with children enrolled in private kindergarten was significantly higher than that of mothers with children enrolled in private day care center in educational materials or training aids(teaching tools, safety supervision of institution. (4) the level of satisfaction of mothers with children enrolled in day care center operated by a corporate body was significantly higher than that of mothers with children enrolled in private day care center in educational materials or training aids be equipped in institution, facilities and equipment, relationship with a class teacher.
