This study was an experimental study applied for Satir's family therapy model for the Korean family. The issued family problems were that children's wasting money and mother's isolation or depression. This paper reviewed Satir's communication family therapy related to some basic theoretical beliefs, communication coping stances, and iceberg exploration. Satir developed four dysfunctional communication patterns as the coping stances: blaming, placating, being irrelevant, and being super reasonable. Through six sessions of family therapy, the results were as the following: first, Satir Model is useful to apply for the Korean family therapy though Korean is rigid to communicate. Second, iceberg exploration of the Satir model is powerfully effective to diagnose and to intervene the family problem. Third, communication coping stances and family sculpture are powerful to share their emotions and experiences. Implications for family welfare policy and family research were discussed.
