Change of Family and the Aged Welfare Policy

Though the process of modernization is generally considered to be material changes as industrialization or urbanization, it also includes the changes of social structure, values and consciousness. With the rapid social changes, our family lives such as family structure, values of family, and functions and roles of family also have changed. One of the important social problems being happened with the changes of family seems to be the problem of the aged support. If we cann't avoid these changes, flexible welfare policy of the aged reflecting social changes, values of the new and old generations is required. According to these points of view, this study investigated the aged problem according to family change. And with this it explored the tasks of the aged welfare policy. From this study, the problem of their residence has been appearing the main issue of their welfare. It is necessary that the aged welfare changes from the form of living together-support to the form of living separately-support. And the aged has consciousness or attitudes rather to be economically independent than to be economically dependent in living together with their childrens. According to that, it is also necessary to secure incomes of the aged appropriately.
