A Study on the In-Home Care Services and the Subjective Well-being among the Service Recipients

The purpose of this study was to identify the socio-demographic characteristics, the home-delivered services system, the elderly's satisfactions toward in-home care service programs and the elderly's attitudes toward home helper services that influenced the subjective well-being among the older care receivers. A structured questionaire was used to interview a sample of 283 poor and frail elders who were sixty five years and older. The data were analyzed by frequency, mean, one-way ANOVA, t-test, Multiple Regression using SAS program package. The results were as follows; 1) the amount of real income, religions influenced the subjective well-being of the homed elderly who received the in-home care services. 2) the elderly's subjective well-being was found to be significantly different with respect to the agency's characteristics, the level of supervision activities with home helpers. 3) Although elderly's satisfactions toward home health care programs increased the overall sence of subjective well-being experienced by the service recipients, there was no direct relationship between the elderly's attitudes toward home helper services and their subjective well-being. 4) As the results of regression analysis, all of them explained 32% of the their subjective well-being.
