A Review of Research History on Giftedness

The purpoes of this study are to define the following terms of genuis, precocity, prodigy, talened and giftedness and to review the research history about giftedness from the ancient to the recent times. Individuals who are gifted and creative do not have a disability that presents obstacles to their learning and participating in society. However, they can be handicapped by our social and educational systems, which present barriers to achieving to their potentials. Gifted individuals possess unique intellectual and creative abilities that need to be fostered and developed. I think that for gifted education to flourish in our country, it needs to be Korean gifted education.
