The purpose of this study is to survey good side of the lives of married couples in Chosun dynasty and to make use of it in child education today. For the sake of this study, I surveyed the view of gender, the relationship between husband and wife, the roles of them, and the method of teaching these things in those days. The view of gender was based on the Confucian view of nature. Man and woman was explained by the principle of negative(eum) and positive(yang). Negative(female) represented tenderness and was considered to have quiescent and passive nature. Positive(male) represented robustness and was considered to have dynamic and active nature. The relationship between husband and wife was to admit those difference between men and women, to obtain harmony from the difference, and to keep equality with each other. And to keep such a relationship go well, husbands respected their wives with hwa(peace), wives with soon(obedience). The role of husband was implemental whereas that of wife was expressive. These roles were not abstract, but were followed strictly in everyday life such as speech, behavior, dress, living place and became the principle of difference between husband and wife(bu-bu-yu-byol). Education on the lives of married couple was given in everyday life, gradually in accordance with developmental stage of sexual identity and from parent's life.
