This study was designed to synthesize quantitatively the master's theses and doctoral dissertations focusing on juvenile delinquency in Korea. Basically, meta-analysis is a statistical analysis of the summary findings of many empirical studies. Its purpose is to draw reliable and general conclusions from a large and complex body of literature on a common topic. Thus, the primary purpose of this study was to conduct a quantitative synthesis of 89 master's theses and doctoral dissertations focusing on the juvenile delinquency. Ultimately, 34 independent variables were chosen after review of those 89 studies. Juvenile delinquency variables include depression, self rationalization, irrational expectation, anti- social disposition, anxiety, adventurous spirit, aggression, self control, responsibility, self-esteem, law-abiding spirit, awareness to another person, domestic troubles, irrational parents' rearing attitude, unsuitable parents' role modeling, family cohesion, parents-adolescent intimacy, brotherliness, rational parents' rearing attitude, family support, family adaptability, family life satisfaction, delinquent bond, law academic achievement, degree of participation in social activity, contact with harmful environment, adjustment to school, attachment to teacher, attachment to school, teacher support, social bond. These 34 independent variables were categorized by 3 different groups according to living province such as personal factors, home factors, school and community factors. These 34 independent variables were also categorized by 2 different groups according to the trait of variables such as control factors and causative factors. The effect size of each variable was assessed. The grand average of effect size of the causative factors proposed in this study turned out to be .606. Among the causative factors proposed in this study, aggression factor showed the highest average effect size, its average effect size being 1.142. The grand average of effect size of the control factors proposed in this study turned out to be -.451.
