The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among mothers' depression, children's perception of parent's behavior, and children's competencies. The subjects were 729 mothers and their children with grade 5 and 6 in the five elementary schools located in T city. Data were analysed by frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, correlation analysis and canonical correlation analysis. A majority of mothers suffered from depression. Children's perception of parent's behavior was to be positive perception by children's perception. The higher the mother's depression was, the lower the children's intellectual ability, children's ability to fulfill responsibility, children's social competencies and personality, and children's ability to exercise and their artistic ability were. The higher the degree to which children perceived parent's behavior positively was, the lower the degree of mother's depression was. Children's positive perception of their mother's behavior was the strongest in predicting children's personality, and children's negative perception of their father's behavior was the most important factor determining children's ability to fulfill responsibility.
