The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of Mother-Child Picture-book Reading Program on accelerating children's language development, such as receptive vocabulary and grammatic understanding. The MCPR Program developed by the author was a shared reading program aimed at increasing stimulation of children's language skills via interactive picture-book reading. For this, two specific research problems were examined. 1) Are there any significant effects of the MCPR Program on receptive vocabulary development of the experimental group? 2) Are there any significant effects of the MCPR Program on grammatic understanding development of experimental group? Thirty children and their mothers who participated in the investigation were divided into experimental group and control group with dyadic. All children experienced pre-tests and post-tests, and the mothers in the experimental group had the opportunities of MCPR Program for 10 weeks. To measure the language development, Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test Revised(PPVT-R) and Test of Language Development-2 Primary(TOLD-2) were used. The major findings were as follows. 1) The children in the experimental group improved the receptive vocabulary score significantly than control group. 2) There was no difference in the grammatic understandings score in two groups.
