This study aims to examine the current status of Korean language education in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and analyze learner characteristics to highlight key discussion points for its advancement. To this end, a field survey was conducted to collect data on the existing status of Korean language education, alongside a learner survey to collect data on learner characteristics. The survey results indicate that the primary motivation to pursue Korean language education among learners stems from an interest in both the Korean language and culture, with the majority of learners pursuing Korean studies as a hobby. Regarding the demand for non-language classes, Korean language education centered on cultural education seems to be feasible considering the existing interest in Korean traditional and living culture. There was a high demand for learning how to speak Korean, which confirms the need for communication-focused Korean language education. The findings of this study can be used to facilitate the expansion of Korean language education in the UAE.
