The Effect of Global Citizenship Education on Global Citizenship, Global Citizenship Competency and Collaborative self-efficacy of University Students

This study was to determine the impact of ‘global citizenship education’ on college students’ global citizenship, global citizenship capabilities, and cooperative self-efficacy. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 23 students who took ‘Global Citizenship Education’, a liberal arts course offered at N University located in G City. To analyze the effects on college students' global citizenship, global citizenship competency, and cooperative self-efficacy, a paired-samples t-test was performed to quantitatively analyze the differences between the pre-test and post-test. As a result, after global citizenship education, global citizenship, global citizenship competency, and cooperative self-efficacy showed a significant difference. Through global citizenship education, there are positive changes in global citizenship and global citizenship capabilities, including college students' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and will to practice, and in collaborative self-efficacy. These results are expected to be helpful in designing and operating 'global citizenship education' classes as a college basic knowledge subject.
