함민복 시에 드러난 “눈물”의 긍정성

The Positivity of “Tears” in Ham Min-bok’s Poetry: Focusing on the Intentionality of Sadness

이 연구는 주관적인 정서인 슬픔을 분석하기 위하여 지향성의 측면에서 접근하였다. 슬픔을 지향성으로 접근하면 지향하는 바(지향내용)와 심리상태를 동시에 파악할 수 있다. 또한 지향성에는 방향성이 존재하는데, 이것은 화자와 세계의 위치를 결정짓는다. 즉 화자 쪽에서의 세계는 어떠한지, 세계 쪽에서 화자는 어떠한 위치에 있는지가 지향성을 파악하는 요소가 된다. 이처럼 지향하는 방향에 따라 부합내용이 나타난다. 화자가 지향적 상태를 추구할 때 언어는 진정성을 수반한다. 화자가 대개 향해 있으려 하는 지점은 이상적 조건이 있는 곳이다. 따라서 현실에서 이러한 조건이 충족되면 만족조건으로 나타난다. 함민복 시에서 지향성의 접근 방식이 의미 있는 이유는 함민복의 시가 긍정성을 추구하기 때문이다. 함민복은 가난을 응시하면서도 가난에 머물러있지 않는다. 가난에 함몰하게 되면 고통에 갇혀 좌절할 수밖에 없다. 함민복 시는 가난 역시 긍정적인 것으로 치환한다. “눈물”에 드러난 현실에서의 고통 역시 마찬가지다. 따라서 함민복 시에 드러난 슬픔은 회복할 수 있는 긍정적인 방향에 ‘향해 있다’. 이것이 지향성으로 함민복 시를 분석한 결과이다. “눈물”과 “눈꺼풀”은 치유의 가능성까지 함의하고 있다는 점에서 이를 뒷받침한다.

This study analyzes the subjective emotion of sadness through the lens of intentionality. Examining sadness from the perspective of intentionality allows for a simultaneous understanding of both the intentional content and the psychological state. Intentionality also possesses directionality, which determines the positions of the speaker and the world. Key elements in this analysis include understanding the nature of the world from the speaker’s perspective and the speaker’s position within the world. These elements are crucial for understanding intentionality, with the content of intention emerging based on this directionality. When a speaker seeks an intentional state, language is accompanied by authenticity. The point the speaker generally aims for is where ideal conditions exist. Therefore, when these conditions are met in reality, they manifest as conditions of satisfaction. The significance of approaching Ham Min-bok’s poetry through intentionality lies in his pursuit of positivity. Although Ham Min-bok observes poverty, he does not remain ensnared by it. If one becomes engulfed in poverty, they inevitably become trapped in suffering and despair. Ham Min-bok’s poetry transforms poverty into something positive. Similarly, the suffering depicted in “Tears” is approached in the same manner. Thus, the sadness in Ham Min-bok’s poetry is directed toward a positive, recoverable direction. This analysis through intentionality reveals this aspect of his poetry. “Tears” and “Eyelids” further support this by suggesting the potential for healing.
