예외 상태에 놓인 인간의 기억과 국가폭력의 증언, 독자의 윤리적 주체 형성

Testimony of National Violence and the Formation of Ethical Subjects by Human Memory in an Exceptional Status

이 글은 국가폭력에 의해 예외 상태에 놓인 희생자가 경험한 사건 경험의 기억과 그 증언을 이해하고 해석하는 것이 윤리적 주체 형성을 위한 토대가 될 수 있음에 주목하였다. 희생자의 사건 경험 기억과 그 증언을 이해하고 해석하는 것은 국가폭력에 의한 제노사이드와 그 과정에서 예외 상태에 놓인 희생자들의 고통과 트라우마를 타당하게 파악할 수 있게 하고, 예외 상태에 놓인 희생자의 기억에 의한 국가폭력의 증언을 타당하게 인식할 수 있게 하기 때문이다. 아울러 독자는 예외 상태에 놓인 희생자의 증언에 대한 이해를 통해 서사적 존재로서 윤리적 주체로 성장할 수 있기 때문이다. 이러한 필요성에 따라, 이 글은 국가폭력과 트라우마, 국가폭력에 의한 제노사이드와 예외 상태의 인간, 예외 상태 인간의 기억에 의한 국가폭력의 증언, 국가폭력의 증언에 대한 이해를 통한 윤리적 주체 형성 등을 살펴보았다. 예외 상태 인간의 기억에 의한 국가폭력의 증언은 ‘죽은 자에 대한 뒤늦은 매장을 통한 애도와 증언: 한국전쟁’, ‘과거의 사건 경험과 현재의 생애담 기록의 교차 서술: 제주 4·3 사건’, ‘증언할 수 없는 기억과 상처의 내적 고백: 광주 5·18 사건’ 등을 통해 논의되었다.

This article noted that understanding and interpreting the memory and testimony of the event experienced by the victim in an exceptional status by national violence can be the foundation for the formation of ethical subjects. Understanding and interpreting the victim's memory of the incident and testimony makes it possible to properly understand the genocide caused by national violence and the suffering and trauma of the victims in the process, and to properly recognize the testimony of national violence based on the memory of the victim in the exceptional status. In addition, the reader can grow into an ethical subject as an narrative being through an understanding of the testimony of the victim in an exceptional status. In accordance with this necessity, this article looked at the formation of ethical subjects through understanding of national violence and trauma, genocide by national violence and humans in exceptional status, testimony of national violence by memory of human beings in exceptional status, and testimony of national violence. The testimony of national violence by human memory was discussed through “Late Burial of the Dead: Korean War,” “Cross Description of Past Events and Current Life Story Records: Jeju April 3rd Incident,” and “Intrinsic Confession of Unevident Memories and Wounds: Gwangju May 18th Incident.“
