상담자의 다문화감수성과 비판적 의식이 사회정의 옹호역량에 미치는 영향

The Effect of Counselor's Multicultural Sensitivity and Critical Consciousness on Social Justice Advocacy Competence

목적 본 연구의 목적은 상담자의 다문화 감수성과 비판의식이 사회정의 옹호역량에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 사회정의 옹호역량에 대한 이들 간의 상대적인 영향력을 분석하는데 데 있다. 방법 연구대상은 상담경력이 있는 상담자 292명을 표집하였다. 측정도구로는 다문화 감수성, 비판적 의식, 사회정의 옹호역량에 대해 자기보고식 설문지를 이용하였다. 수집된 자료는 기술통계, Pearson 적률상관관계, 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 검증하였다. 결과 연구 결과 첫째, 다문화 감수성, 비판적 의식, 사회정의 옹호역량 간 유의미한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 다문화 감수성과 비판적 의식은 사회정의 옹호역량에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 사회정의 옹호역량에 대한 비판적 의식, 다문화 감수성 간의 상대적인 영향력을 분석한 결과, 비판적 의식이 다문화 감수성보다 사회정의 옹호역량을 예측하는 강력한 정적 예측 변인으로 나타났다. 넷째, 사회정의 옹호역량에 대한 다문화 감수성 및 비판적의식의 하위요인 간의 상대적 영향력을 분석한 결과, 비판적의식의 하위요인인 사회정치적 참여가 가장 강력한 예측 변인으로 나타났으며, 다음으로 평등주의, 다문화 감수성의 하위요인인 문화차이에 대한 존중감, 상호작용에 대한 자신감, 상호작용에 대한 주의력의 순으로 사회정의 옹호역량을 예측하는 변인으로 나타났다. 결론 연구를 통해 비판적 의식의 사회정치적 참여가 사회정의 옹호역량을 함양시키기 위한 가장 효과적인 예측 변인으로서 실천적 참여의 중요성을 제시하였다.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to specify the effects of both multicultural sensitivity and critical consciousness on social justice advocacy competency, and to analyze relative effectiveness of them on social justice advocacy competency. Methods Study subjects were 292 counselors who have engaged with professional experiences. Data were collected using test tools of ‘multicultural sensitivity’, ‘critical consciousness’ and ‘social justice advocacy competency’, and then collected data were statistically processed through descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. Results First, there were significantly positive correlations among counselor’s multicultural sensitivity, critical consciousness and social justice advocacy competency. Second, regarding the hierarchical effects of multicultural sensitivity, critical consciousness on social justice advocacy competency, was a more powerful predictor variable that predicting critical consciousness than multicultural sensitivity. Thirds, regarding the relative effect of multicultural sensitivity and critical consciousness on social justice advocacy competency, ssocial-political-participation, a sub variable of critical consciousness, was a most powerful predictor variable, and it was followed by egalitarianism, sub variables of multicultural sensitivity, repect for cultural difference, interaction confidence, interaction attentiveness. Conclusions According to this study, social-political-participation which is a sub variable of critical consciousness was the most effective predictor variable, it provides importance of practical participation in promoting social justice advocacy competency.
