A Study on Death Education Instruction Methods Using Picture Books - Focusing on Youth

그림책을 활용한 죽음교육 지도 방안에 관한 연구 - 청소년을 중심으로

본 연구는 학교현장에서 청소년들이 ‘죽음’이라는 무거운 주제를 쉽게 이해하고 배워 자기성찰의 기회를 제공받아 존재론적 탐구와 자기 성장 및 치유에 도움을 주고자 하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 그림책의 죽음 교육적 이해와 효용성을 살펴본 뒤, 선행연구를 바탕으로 하여 죽음교육 지도안을 구안하였다. 또한 죽음교육을 담당할 교사의 교육활동 부담감을 줄이고 교육의 완성도를 높이기 위한 방안으로 죽음교육 활동 세부지도안을 구성하였다. 더 나아가 청소년과 교사 모두 생명의 감수성뿐만 아니라삶과 죽음에 대해 철학적인 사고로 더 깊은 깨우침을 갖도록 하는데 일부분 기여하고자 하였다. 무엇보다 본고가 죽음교육의 한 방법으로서 방향성을 제시하였다는 것에 그 의의를 둔다.

The purpose of this study is to help teenagers in school settings easily understand and learn about the heavy topic of ‘death’ and provide opportunities for self-reflection to help them with ontological exploration and self-growth and healing. To this end, after examining the death education understanding and utility of picture books, a death education guideline was designed based on previous research. In addition, a detailed guidance plan for death education activities was created as a way to reduce the burden of educational activities on teachers in charge of death education and improve the completeness of education. Furthermore, both youth and teachers sought to contribute to providing a deeper awareness through philosophical thinking about life and death as well as sensitivity to life. Above all, the significance of this paper is that it suggests direction as a method of death education.
