Analysing the Manga to Anime Adaptation Process Using Adaptation Theory - Case Study : The Animation 'Deviant'

본 연구는 린다 헛천(Linda Hutcheon)의 각색 이론을 활용하여 만화 <비인재(非人哉)>가 애니메이션으로 개작되는 과정을 분석하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이 연구는 <비인재> 만화가 애니메이션으로 개작되는 과정에서 어떻게 재해석되고 재구성되는지를 탐구한다. 이 연구는 텍스트 분석 방법을 사용하였다. <비인재> 원작 만화와 개작된 애니메이션의 캐릭터 배경, 스토리라인, 그리고 관객의 반응을 분석하였다. 애니메이션 작품의 전체적인 비주얼 스타일은 만화를 가능한 한 재현하려고 하며, 애니메이션 미디어 형식에 맞게 캐릭터의 배경 설정을 보다 세밀하게 디자인하고, 캐릭터의 성격과 배경 설정에 따라스토리라인을 추가하였다. 애니메이션의 창의적인 실천과 전략은 문화를 전파하는 데 더 좋은 방법을제공하고, 관객의 개작 애니메이션에 대한 반응과 이해는 각색 이론의 다중성과 재구성성을 다시 한 번확인시켜 준다. 만화가 애니메이션으로 개작되는 과정에서는 원작을 존중하는 기반 위에 스토리와 설정을 합리화하여 이야기의 신선함과 깊이를 증가시킨다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the transformation of the <Deviant> manga into an anime using Linda Hutcheon's adaptation theory. It investigates how the manga undergoes reinterpretation and reconstruction during the adaptation process. Employing textual analysis, we examine character backgrounds, storylines, and audience feedback for both the original manga and the anime adaptation. The animation strives to preserve the manga's graphic style while carefully designing scenes to suit the animated medium and enhancing the storyline based on character traits. Through animation's creative practice and strategy, cultural dissemination is facilitated, and audience reactions reaffirm the principles of adaptation theory. During the manga-to-anime adaptation process, rationalization of storyline and setting aims to enrich the narrative while maintaining fidelity to the original work.
