본 연구는 한국과 베트남의 장례식 조문 답례 담화에 대한 비교 분석을 목적으로 한다. 그 결과 한국은 고인과 저자의 관계 지향적인 성격을 지닌 반면 베트남은 고인의 죽음에 대한 사실 정보 전달의 성격을 지니고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 또 한국 담화가 조문과 부의라는 지원 요소에 감사를 하고 있는 것과 달리 베트남 담화에서는 감사한 대상을 나열하는 방식으로 감사를 표현하고 있었고, 양해 구하기에 있어서도 한국은 찾아뵙지 못한 것에 대한 양해를 구한 반면, 베트남은 혹시 모를 부주의에 대한 양해를 구하는 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다.
This research aims to compare and analyze funeral thank-you speeches in South Korea and Vietnam. The findings reveal that while South Korea exhibits a relationship-oriented approach between the deceased and the speaker, Vietnam tends to convey factual information about the deceased's death. Additionally, in South Korean discourse, expressions of gratitude are directed towards the support elements of condolences and offerings, whereas Vietnamese discourse expresses gratitude by listing the recipients. Furthermore, in seeking understanding, South Korea asks for forgiveness for not being able to visit, while Vietnam demonstrates a difference by seeking forgiveness for any potential inadvertent lapses.
