시와 산문의 경계에서 얻은 체득적 깨달음의 실현 - 장영수의 시를 중심으로

Realization of enlightenment gained at the border between poetry and prose - Focus on Jang Young-soo's poetry

본 논문은 치악산 연작시를 썼던 원주출신 장영수의 시에서 고향 관련 작품을 살펴보려고 한다. 장영수를 주목한 이유는 크게 두 가지다. 하나는 그가 원주에서 태어났음에도 불구하고 『원주시사』에서는 누락되었다는 것이고, 다른 하나는 그의 작품이 ‘문학과지성사’에서 출판한 시집만 6권이라는 점이다. 그는 창작과 연구를 병행하면서 중앙문단에서 원주의 지역 정서를 노래한 시인이다. 장영수의 연작시 「치악산」에 나타난 유년의 기억은, 캄캄하고 침침한 어두운 빛으로 점철되어 있다. 때로는 전해 들은 소쩍새와 쪽박새의 울음소리를 통해 화자의 바람이 드러나고, 집 나간 어머니를 삼십 년이 지나서야 만난 사연을 들으면서 정화 공간으로 나타나기도 한다. 이후 「치악산」이라는 구체적 대상이 「고향」으로 바뀌면서 추상적인 언어로 바뀐다. 그의 초기 시는 구두점에 중요한 의미를 담아 문단의 주목을 받았다. 이후 그는 자신의 창작과 학문에 대한 의지와 열정을 만족스럽게 펴지 못했다. 그렇지만 그는 일상어와 시어 사이의 관계에서 그 긴장을 최대한 느껴보고자 한 시인이다. 따라서 일상에서 깨달은 순간순간을 시로 작품화하고 있다. 특히 고백조의 작품은 시와 산문 사이, 그 경계가 모호하게 느껴지지만, 그의 창작은 계속되고 있다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the world of poetry by Jang Young-soo, a poet from Wonju who wrote the Chiak Mountain series of poems. There are two main reasons for paying attention to Jang Young-soo. One is that even though he was born in Wonju, he was omitted from the history of Wonju poetry, and the other is that his works were published in only 6 volumes of poetry published by ‘Moonji Publishing’. He is a poet who sang the local sentiments of Wonju in the central literary world while simultaneously writing and researching. The memories of childhood expressed in Jang Young-su's series of poems, “Chiak Mountain,” are filled with dark, gloomy light. At times, the speaker's wishes are revealed through the heard cries of the vulture and the chickadee, and at other times, it appears as a purified space of new birth as he hears the story of meeting his mother who ran away from home only after 30 years. Afterwards, the concrete object called “Chiak Mountain” changed to “hometown” and became an abstract language. Early on, his poetry attracted the attention of the literary world for its significant punctuation marks. Afterwards, he was unable to satisfactorily demonstrate his will and passion for creation and academics. However, he is a poet who tried to feel the tension as much as possible in the relationship between everyday language and poetic language. Therefore, I turn every moment I realize in my daily life into a work of poetry. In particular, the boundary between poetry and prose feels vague in works with a confessional tone, but his creation continues.
