고려대 만송문고에는 『장책수』(만송 D5 A83)라는 서명의 대책문 모음집이 수장되어 있다. 이 책은 선조-인조연간 문과 殿策 문답을 淨寫한 것으로, 일부 답안을 제외하면 답안 마지막에 답안 작성자를 함께 저록하고 있다. 답안의 답성자들을 『문과방목』에서 확인해 보면 이 답안들은 모두 장원 혹은 亞元의 성적을 거둔 것임을 알 수 있다. 대책문 작성의 궁극적인 목적은 출제자인 군주의 마음을 얻어 좋은 점수를 얻는 것이다. 대책문의 기본 형식과 단락 구성 방식은 어떠하며, 답안 작성자들은 위와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위해 어떠한 주제 의식과 수사 방법을 사용하고 있을까. 본고는 『장책수』 수록 답안을 개괄하고 심우정의 답안을 일례로 대책문의 수사법에 대해 간략히 분석해 보고자 한다.
A collection of topical replies, one of civil service examinations in Chosŏn Korea, entitled Changch'aeksu (壯策粹, D5A83), is housed in the Mansong Libarary of Korea University. This anthology, which includes both questions and answers papers of this examination written during the reign of King Sŏnjo and Injo, even contains names of candidates at the end of the answer sheets except several ones. These candidates were thought to win in the first or second place, referring to Roster of Examination Graduates (文科榜目, Mun'gwabangmok) The ultimate purpose of writing topical replies is to captivate heart of the reigning monarch who set questions of the exams, and acquire a high score. What is the basic format and paragraph composition of the answer papers, and what subject matters and rhetoric methods are used? This paper adumbrates the answer sheets compiled in Changch'aeksu and illustrates how the rhetoric is applied from that of Sim Ujŏng.
