「玉樓夢」의 남녀결연담 연구

A Study on the Relationship Methods of Okrumong

본고는 19세기 한문장편소설의 하나인 「옥루몽」의 남녀결연담 양상과 의미를 재자가인소설의 측면에서 고찰하였다. 「옥루몽」의 등장인물은 이상적 인물로 그려진다. 양창곡은 문무를 겸비한 인물로 과거에 자원급제하고 전쟁에 나가 국가를 위기에서 구하는 이상적 존재이다. 그와 결연을 맺는 강남홍, 벽성선, 일지련 역시 이상적 존재로 그려진다. 강남홍은 가무, 자색, 지조, 문장을 모두 갖춘 인물로 특히 무예에 뛰어나며, 벽성선 역시 재색을 겸비하였고 음률에 장점이 있으며 지조가 있는 여성이다. 일지련은 자색이 뛰어나고 총명하고 무예에 뛰어난 인물로 설정된다.「옥루몽」의 결연담은 이러한 재자와 가인이 우여곡절을 겪고 혼인에 이르는 ‘과정’을 그리고 있다. 이러한 결연담은 재자가인소설의 결연과 유사한 면모이다. 「옥루몽」의 결연에서는 ‘지기’에 대한 욕망이 두드러진다. 양창곡과 강남홍, 양창곡과 벽성선, 양창곡과 일지련은 지기를 바탕으로 결연을 맺는다. 다만 각각의 관계에서 ‘지기’의 층위는 상이한 것으로 보이며, 일반적인 ‘지기’의 모습은 강남홍과의 관계에서만 드러난다. 그 밖의 결연에서 보이는 ‘지기’는 다수의 첩을 거느리는 것에 대한 방어책이라 여겨진다. 「옥루몽」의 결연에서 보이는 또 다른 욕망은 정절, 신의, 투기의 금지 등 유가 이념의 고수를 여성들에게 요구한다는 것이다. 이는 남성중심적이고 가부장적인 남성의 욕망을 드러내는데 집중한 결과이고, 개인의 욕망을 드러낸 것이라 할 수 있다.

This paper examines the aspect and meaning of the male - female relationship of “Okrumong”, one of the novels of the 19th century. The character of “Okrumong” is depicted as an ideal person. Yang Chang-gok is a person who has a mastery of civilization, and is an ideal being who rescues the people in the past and goes to war and seeks the nation from the crisis. Gang Nam-hong, Byuck sseong-sun, and Il-ji-ryun, who make an alliance with him, are also depicted as being ideal. Gang Nam-hong is a person who is full of dance, song, beauty, and literary arts, and especially excellent in martial arts. Byuck sseong-sun also combines talent and beauty and has music advantages and fidelity. l-ji-ryun is set to be a beauty, brilliant, and martialred figure. The relationship of “Okrumong” talks about the process in which these characters experience twists and turns and leads to marriage. This is a similar aspect to “재자가인소설”. In the “Okrumong” alliance, the desire for “지기(知己)” stands out. Yang Chang-gok and Gang Nam-hong, Yang Chang-gok and Byuck sseong-sun, Yang Chang-gok and Il-ji-ryun form alliances based on “지기(知己)”. However, in each relation, the level of 'Ji-ki' seems to be different, and the figure of general 'Ji-ki' is revealed only in relation with Gangnam-hong. The “지기(知己)” seen in other alliances is considered to be a defense against having multiple concubines. Another desire seen in the “Okrumong” alliance is that women are required to adhere to the ideology of Confucianism, such as the ban on fidelity, godliness, and speculation. This reveals the male-centered, patriarchal desire of men. And it is a manifestation of individual desire.
