A Study on the Relationship between Literature and Religion

본 연구는 문학과 종교의 관계성을 다각도로 고찰하여 두 영역의 접점과 상호작용을 탐구하고, 이를 통해 인간 문화에 대한 보다 통합적이고 심층적인 이해를 도모하고자 한다. 연구는 크게 세 가지 측면에 초점을 맞추었다: 첫째, 문학 작품에 나타난 종교적 주제와 모티프의 분석, 둘째, 종교 텍스트의 문학적 특성 고찰, 셋째, 문학과 종교가 인간의 실존적 문제를 다루는 방식의 비교 분석이다. 연구 결과, 문학과 종교는 인간의 근원적 질문들을 탐구하는 데 있어 상호보완적 관계에 있음이 확인되었다. 문학은 종교적 주제를 구체화하고 재해석하는 역할을 하며, 종교는 문학에 깊이 있는 주제와 풍부한 상징체계를 제공한다. 또한 현대 사회에서 두 영역은 개인의 정체성 형성과 공동체 의식 함양에 중요한 역할을 하고 있음이 드러났다. 본 연구는 문학과 종교의 학제간 연구의 필요성을 제기하며, 이를 통해 인문학의 통합적 이해와 현대 사회의 다양한 도전에 대한 새로운 통찰을 얻을 수 있음을 제안한다.

This study examines the relationship between literature and religion from various angles, explores the contact points and interactions between the two areas, and seeks to promote a more integrated and in-depth understanding of human culture through this. The study focused on three main aspects: first, the analysis of religious topics and motifs in literary works, second, the examination of the literary characteristics of religious texts, and third, a comparative analysis of how literature and religion deal with human existential problems. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that literature and religion are complementary to each other in exploring fundamental human questions. Religion provides a rich symbolic system and in-depth subject matter in literature, and literature plays a role in specifying and reinterpreting religious topics. It has also been revealed that in modern society, the two areas play an important role in shaping individual identity and cultivating a sense of community. This study raises the need for an interdisciplinary study of literature and religion, suggesting that through this, an integrated understanding of the humanities and new insights into the various challenges of modern society can be obtained.
