대학생을 대상으로 한 한문 敎授法의 바람직한 방향 모색 : 교양 과목으로 개설된 한문 수업의 사례를 통해

Seeking Desirable Teaching Methods of Chinese Classics Courses for University Students: Basing on the Case of Chinese Classics Courses as Elective Course

대학에서 한자 학습에 대한 관심은 지속적으로 고조되고 있으나 이에 반해 한문 학습에 대한 요구는 오히려 줄어들고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 현실에서 한자 교육에 비해 상대적으로 위축된 한문 교육을 활성화하기 위해서 교수자에게 주어진 선결 과제는 학습 수요자의 요구를 정확히 파악하고 그들이 호응할 수 있는 수업 내용과 운영 방식을 개발하는 것이라는 데에는 누구나 동의할 것이다. 그러므로 본 연구는 고려대학교에서 교양 과목으로 개설된 한문 수업의 실제 사례를 통해 대학생을 대상으로 한 한문 교육의 바람직한 방법론을 모색하는 데에 목적을 두었다. 대학에서의 한문 교육에 대한 실질적 접근이라는 취지 아래에 필자가 담당했던 한문 수업의 구성 및 운영 방식을 소개하고, 그것을 토대로 효율적인 교수법을 모색해 보았다. 이상적인 교수 학습을 위한 요건으로는 합리적인 목표 설정, 수요자의 관심을 유발할 수 있는 강의 자료, 수요자의 참여도를 높일 수 있는 체계적인 운영 방식, 타당한 평가 기준 등을 들 수 있다. 그러나 비단한문 교육에만 국한된 것이 아니겠지만 교수 학습에 있어서 무엇보다 중요한 것은 교수자와 수요자 사이의 소통일 것이다. 교수자와 수요자가 敎學相長의 자세로 학습 내용에 서로 최선을 다할 때 가장 이상적인 수업이 될 수 있을 것이다.

In university education, the demand for learning Chinese classics seems to be decreasing while the demand for learning Chinese characters is continuously increasing. Under this situation, in order to encourage learning Chinese classics, the priority of professors should be accurate identification of learners' needs and development of course contents and management styles which can elicit positive responses from learners. Therefore, the present study aimed to seek desirable teaching methods in education of Chinese classics for university students by referring to Chinese classics courses opened as an elective course at Korea University. As a practical approach to the university-level education of Chinese classics, the present writer introduced the structure and management of the courses which the present writer has taught, and attempted to find effective teaching methods. The components of desirable teaching methods may include reasonable goal setting, interesting material, validity of evaluation criteria, and systematic management style for better participation of learners. In Chinese classics education as well as in other education fields, however, the most important factor in enhancing teaching efficiency may be the communication between the teacher and learners. When both the teacher and learners do their best with the attitude of assisting each other for their growth, the most desirable and idealistic lessons will follow.
